Teachers Retirements System Board of Trustees Meeting Report July 2022

TRS held its bimonthly board of directors meeting on July 27, 2022. The TRS net position at the end of June was $87,086,032,421. The board approved the amended FY 2023 budget and proposed FY 2024 budget. The next TRS meeting is scheduled for Sept. 28, 2022.


Financial Statement

  • The TRS net position in May 2021 was $101,358,309,710

  • The TRS net position in May 2022 was $93,242,132,198

  • The TRS net position in June 2021 was $102,146,687,623

  • The TRS net position in June 2022 was $87,086,032,421

Membership Report

In June, there were 280,303 TRS members in active status. There were 232,175 members who were actively contributing and 144,047 retirees. On July 1, 2022, there were 129,372 service retirees with an average monthly benefit of $3,513 and an average age at retirement of 59.


Amended FY 2023 Budget and Proposed FY 2024 budget

  • The FY 2023 budget was approved at $48,727,498. The budget was amended to $50,800,182

  • The FY 2024 proposed budget is $51,588,982
